Reformatting the C drive

I am running Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 and I recently
"caught" a virus or trojan horse and after a week Norton quarantined it. Now
I am being told that the trojan horse damaged my C drive and I need to
reformat it. I have cleaned everything off my computer, except for the
essentials. Is there anything written out that gives step by step
instructions on reformatting the C drive? Thanks, Becca
