reformatting hard drive

i want to start fresh on my computer, but don't know how to reformat my hard
drive, and can't find any easy tutorials on the net - can anyone give me a
good website or tutorial i can use? or should i not do it myself at all and
get a professional to do it for me? help!

The computer vendor would or should have supplied media and instructions
regarding returning your machine to 'factory' settings.. have you contacted
them?..
