Reducing the PST file by COMPACTING

The size of the OUTLOOK.PST file is larger than the size reported in
\OutlookProperties\Folder Size by about 30%.

The size of the OUTLOOK.PST file did not decrease neither after deletion of
several large messages nor after a COMPACT operation.

How can one decrease the size of the OUTLOOK.PST

OS: Windows 2000, OUTLOOK Version 9.0.0

You've done all you need to. The size in Windows Explorer should be at least
30% more than the size reported within Outlook.
