Redirector to Maps for O2K broken

Can anyone else check this and verify please?

I'm running Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711)

Steps to duplicate-

Open up any contact from contact manager with a valid address and click the
Map button or select Actions | Display Map of Address.

This used to go through a redirector from Officeupdate.microsoft.com to
Maps.expedia.com, but now it just dumps out to
http://office.microsoft.com/home/default.aspx

I want to make sure it is nothing on this end that is causing it. I've
tested it at a few workstations running NT4 and Windows 2000. That doesn't
make any difference.

TIA

Gabe-

It looks like MS removed the outlmap.htm redirector from the officeupdate
site. Outlook 2002 probably uses a different link.

I called MS to let them know, but they wanted to charge me $35 for the
privilege so I decided to post here and hope one of the MVP's relays the
message.

As opposed to waiting for MS to fix the redirector, the link can be changed
to point to wherever you want it to. I used Mapquest myself.

Here is the reg key that needs to be added to do so..

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Options\General]
"MapScriptURL"="www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?address=<0s>&city=<1s>&state=<
2s>&zip=<3s>"

Works like a charm. Thanks to Dave Roberts for figuring this out back in
May.

I am experiencing this on a PC for a user at my company.
He has Windows 2000/Outlook 2000. It stopped working for
him approximately on 9/8 or 9/9. Our organization is
migrating from WinNT 4.0 to WinXP so we don't have too
many Win2k machines but 2 other PCs with Win2k/O2k are
experiencing the same issue. I am running WinXP/Outlook
2002 and it works just fine. According to MS Knowledge
Base, clicking on Display Map of Address is supposed to
take you to expedia.com. Appears to be a Microsoft
issue....

Searching myself on this same subject, I see someone has a
solution...for a novice computer user, I don't know what
to do with the command line provided...copy/paste it
somewhere?

Please provide steps...thank you.

It's a registry entry, i.e. the Windows registry. If you're a novice,
best not to mess with the registry, as you can seriously screw up your
operating system with no way to fix it except to completely reinstall
it.

I'm experiencing the same problem with every Outlook 2000
client I have. It works fine with Outlook 2002. I'm
still trying to figure out what happened. Let me know if
you hear anything.
