recycle bin problem

C

Carmen O'Donnell

I have Windows Vista Home Premium which came pre-installed on my system
which I bought in the beginning of November 2007

I was deleting some old files, mostly word documents, from some flash drives
I have. One of the drives had some pretty big files. Anyhow, after getting
back to my desktop, I noticed that the recycle bin was "gone" I'm not sure I
know where they went, however after investigating I found that you can set a
limit to the amount of files the recycle bin will hold by percentage . Right
now I have a recycle bin icon that had been a registry type icon which I
changed from directions given to me a long time ago by an on line tech chat
session,. to go to a link which would help me to get it back. I pasted it in
my address bar, and I did get the recycle bin back on the desktop. However,
it is showing that it is a shortcut and I don't think I would know how to
actually set it from a shortcut.

Sometimes I feel as though I will NEVER get the hang of Vista. I don't
understand the whole "tree structure" and it seems that many of my files are
under Users/Carmen etc. instead of "Documents and Settings/Carmen O'Donnell".
Anyhow right now my problem is the recycle bin and what to do about it/ I
don't need to restore any of the files that went in there fortunately. I
realize I will need to set limits for it which I was able to do in "My
computer".

Can anyone pleeese help me as I am totally lost and would TRULY appreciate
any and all help. If you don't hear back from me it's because I am not sure
how I got here L

Thanks,

Carmen

Did you try these ones from Ramesh Srinivasan (MVP)
Right-click on the Desktop, click Personalize, and in the left pane, click
Change desktop icons. In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog, enable the
Recycle Bin checkbox. Click OK. See also:
