recuperate files

Hi there,
I was about to reformat my laptop and decided to save my
files onto CD.
I moved my files from C:\ to D:\ (not copied!). The files
were apparently writen onto the CD.
When I put the CD back in the drive to check, it was
blank.
I can still see the files are under "recent documents"
but can't open them as the properties have changed.
How can I get these files back?

I would very much appreciate your help!
thanks,
Steph

If you don't have third party CD writing software installed, then the files
are in a temp holding area waiting to be burned to CD. XP's CD writing
function does not natively support moving, copying or writing files directly
to CD. It first places the files in a staging area and it should prompt you
by telling you that you have fails waiting to be burned to CD.

For more information, go to Help and Support on the Start menu, type CD
Burning in the Search box, when the task list appears, click "Copy files and
folders to a CD."
