My set up is as follows:
Dell desktop dimension 4400
Western Digital 120 gig ide
windows xp home
After I couldn't boot with this hard drive, I removed it and installed it on a different machine as a slave. I, then, tried to look at it's contents and got disk corrupted error. Soonafter, I ran chkdsk /f e: and chkdsk /r e: and now I was able to see the contents. However, the windows, documents and setting, boot.ini, and whatever other files and directories were missing. Nonetheles, I saw some of the files and directories including ntloader, bootsect.dos, autoexec.bat, etc...
I, then, moved the hard drive back to the original machine. Started recovery console. Did fixboot successfully. Did bootcfg /reload and it failed because it could find windows installation.
Also, I noticed there were a number of directories and files that could be of interest. For example, found.000 and files with extension .chk.
Would anyone know how I could recover from this?
Thanks in advance
