recovery from Mblaster and rpc failure

My boss got the mblast worm, he removed it with a symantec
tool but now now of the services work. You can't start the
RPC or many services - not even pull up the properties. I
have a recovery disk from the manufacturer of the PC, can
I use that? When I put it in the drive, it states do you
want to restore windows xp, will that get me to the repair
option? Thanks

A million thanks for your informative postings of the above information. I was "wormed" this morning and had no clue what to do. Thanks again!!
