recommended disc to save powerpoint presentation

my son is making a powerpoint presentation for school. It includes music.
What type of disc should he save it to. What would have enough capacity for a
15 minute presentation?

Probably a zip disk or CD-R would be good enough. If you are using a zip
disk, you will need to have a zip drive (same applies to school). As for
CD-R, you will need a CD writer to write the ppt into the CD-R. CD Writer is
not required to read a CD-R.

And if the school has access to the internet, send the presentation to your
own email ;)

Also, you probably want to check the file size of the music. If the size of
the ppt and music is around 1mb, there might be chances that you can save it
into floppy disk.

You can then zip the file to reduce the size using WinZip (www.winzip.com),
or use Windows XP Built-in Zip support ( Read here:

....And don't forget USB pens With the prices of 1Gb USB pens these days,
this would be an excellent buy for all school work including the powerpoint
presentation.

Regardless of the type of media you choose to save your presentation. Make
sure that you save it to your hard drive first, and then copy it to whatever
your going to use. Those USB memory sticks will work with any system that
has a USB port, and are reasonably priced. If the presentation includes a
music file, then don't forget to copy that also. To make sure the music file
will work when your son take it to school. It should be in the same folder
as his presentation before it is inserted. All music files with the
exception of WAV files are linked and not inserted into presentations.

USB Flash disk / pen / keyring type drive.

Bigger the better

USB 2.0 is faster than USB1 for copying data

Always design your presentation on your computer......

when you have finished it, then copy it to the USB keyring.

Key your music files in the SAME folder as your powerpoint file (.ppt)

capacity for a 15 minute presentation?

Step 1. When he completes the presentation, open Explorer and navigate to
the file. Right click it and choose properties. Note the size of the
presentation. That will tell you how much room you need to load it. If it
includes hyperlinked files make sure the files are there and include them in
the size of the program. That may limit the media you can choose.

Step 2. Find out what equipment the school has to show the presentation.
If they don't have a CD player on their computer don't burn it to a CD, etc.
See if their computer has available USB ports if you decide to put the
program on a USB external device.

Step 3. Insure the school computer at least has the Powerpoint Viewer
installed. If not, put a copy on the CD and arrive early enough to install
the viewer on their computer.

Step 4. Go to the school before the scheduled presentation and try the
equipment's ability to show your program.
