Recipients unable to 'see' pictures sent as part of email

It's worth a try, but if you want to eliminate any possibility of problems
caused by AVG you will need to do the custom install.

Those file sizes are for emails that show the blank frame with the little red X?
Strange, because an email without a picture or attachment will seldom be
over 5K in size. Those sizes indicate that the pictures are present.

Hi Gary

Yes; the file sizes indicated are for emails I've received which include a
picture/cartoon as part of the email with additional written text. When
fwding, the written text is viewable but the picture isn't; it appears as a
blank box as previously described.
Brownie and I appear to have an identical problem. What are your views about
us removing our email accounts from Windows Mail and then recreating them?
How can we save all the addresses and mails we have saved at present - and
basically how do we do it (if you think it's worth doing!)

It isn't clear to me whether you are saying that emails received with
the blank box and red X were the ones with file sizes in the 45K and
larger range. I particularly wanted you to look at the file size of a
received picture email you've sent to yourself, one with the symptoms.

You can try removing one of the problem email accounts and then
recreate it. I doubt that it will help, but it can't hurt. Deleting an account
in Windows mail does not delete any emails or contacts.

Sorry Gary; maybe didn't make myself clear. Have a number of different
emails which, when forwarded, ALL present with the blank box. They range in
size from: 15KB, 45KB, 76KB, 542KB and today received one of 1157KB. As
you can see, from quite small to quite large pictures; all present a problem.

May look at deleting my email account and recreating it tomorrow as you
indicate it won't wipe out my existing emails and contacts.

Have browsed various threads but cannot find answer to my problem. When
I'm
sent an email containing a picture (not as an attachment), I can see it
but
if I forward it (Windows Mail Vista) - both back to myself and to other
people - the picture recreates as a blank white box with a white cross on
a
small red square in top left corner. Left and right clicking on square
produces nothing. As picture is not an attachment, I can't save it to
another type of program. Any suggestions on how I can solve my forwarding
problem?

Something must be corrupting the pictures. Which antivirus are you
running?

Hi Frank + Gary + Robert + Greenant + Brownie

We have lift-off!! I checked my boxes under Tools for what seems to be the
umpteenth time (as Frank indicated) and saw .... the box to 'include pictures
with messages' WASN'T ticked. I think I've been ticking and unticking so
many boxes that that one slipped through. I've tested all is well by sending
loads of picture emails to a friend as a test and also back to myself and
they're all appearing.
BROWNIE - Check that this very small thing isn't the cause of your problem
too.
Guys - thank you all so much for your time and effort; it was very much
appreciated. xx (I can add that 'cos I'm female - but you may have already
guessed that eh?!)

I see little red x. ???????????

If it was sent using Windows Mail, the sender may have forgotten to
close all other programs that access the attachment file before telling
Windows Mail to attach it. Windows Mail automatically treats
any pictures in the message as attachments.

Verify that the picture was really included:

a) If the message size is less than 10KB, there's no picture.
b) Look at the raw source code (Ctrl+F3) which will show a mass of
random characters if there is a picture included.
