Receiving faxes with Win-XP

Can I receive faxes with my laptop (Win-XP) in the standby mode?

It is an HP but I think that Win-XP is the important point.

I presume it is impossible in the hibernate mode.

Can I expect the hp to jump out of standby and process the fax?

That is, is XP really running and watching the hardware, while in
the standby mode?

I just do not want to leave the display on all day waiting for the fax.

If I lower the display lid, the display goes off. I do not know whether
this is the true standby mode or just display off. Would it receive faxes
then?

Sorry if this group is only for Win-2000.

Thanks,

Al

Windows XP Fax won't wake up a system from Stand-by/Hibernate mode for an
incoming Fax. If you close the display lid and the computer goes to
hibernate mode, it won't be able to receive fax thereafter until you bring
the machine back from hibernation.

Thanks,
Anand
