Receiving emails has ceased

I had to reboot a number of times this week due to automatic security updates
and for the last 2 days, I cannot receive email through Outlook. I can send
emails, no problem. I have checked and nothing seems to have changed in set
up, but when I click on send/receive - I do not get status message and no new
emails. I cleaned out my mailbox, sent mail and deleted files in case there
was just too much in there and that did not help. I can only access
incoming email when I log into my internet provider and check mail that way.
PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME.

You didn't provide any information for us to work with. At least include
version of Outlook, type of mail accounts and errors reported when doing a
manual Send/Receive.

were any of the updates for outlook? if so, which firewall do you use? it
may be blocking a newer point version of outlook.

Sorry Office 2003 basic edition. I get no errors, when I do a manual
send/receive nothing - absolutely nothing happens, no errors, do dialogue box
nothing at all. I am using McAfee Security Center that came with the laptop
package. I accept all the updates they offer. Not really great when it
comes to software - just a user so this stuff always confuses me. The only
change to the set up in Outlook that I made was to delete an email account
from my office that never worked anyway. I did delete this in the last
couple of days. Other than that nothing has changed that I am aware of.
Thanks in advance.

I use McAfee and there was NEVER an issue until 2 days ago. The only update
was McAfee and it did not indicate updates to Outlook. I noticed the update
symbol and got a message to restart my computer which I did and then I did
send and receive as I ususally do during the day and nothing - no progress
box, no error nothing. I can send, and checked set up and sent test message
to myself and it went to Comcast email not to Outlook. So confused
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

What happens when you go into account setup and test your email account.

the test email arrives in Comcast.net but not via outlook - I must go to
comcast and check mail there. I am so confused. Outlook had been set up to
receive emails from comcast and the only thing I did recently is delete
another email account that had never received emails in outlook anyway so
didn't think it would hurt anything, but guess that may have done the damage.

Since Outlook test is failing on receive but not send then you must have
incorrect info for the receiving. I suggest you contact with Comcast for
the correct setting or check their web site

Neil, thanks for the info but I found something and I think this is the
problem, but don't know how to fix
When I check the email account - I don't think it is set for default - it is
muted and I cannot make this the option. Should I delete this address and
recreate it - I think this may just do it, but not sure if there is another
to set it as default.
Thanks

You can have only 1 default email account, all other would not be default.
I guess I don't really understand what is grayed out but that is probably a
separate issue. If you run the test of the account and it fails, then you
most likely have the wrong information in the account setup or the ISP is
having a problem.
