receiving e-mail problem

Why when I want to recieve mail does windows mail ask me to connect to the
server with a dial up acct, I have DSL. My outlook used to just
send/recieves every so often without being prompted. Is there any way to set
up to send/receive without having to connect to server. I have it set to
send/receive every five minutes to check for new mail, but every time it
prompts me to connect? Thanks for any help!

Go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Connection,
make sure everything in that Connection screen is grayed out,
which means it will use the connection settings in Internet Explorer.

Next, go to Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Connections,
the Dial-up and VPN settings should be grayed out, meaning it
will use the currently active broadband connection.

If this does not solve the problem, create a new mail account,
with the same settings as the old account, then delete the old
account. The old account may have become corrupted.
