Receipt doesn't do anything

O

Orrie

Hi,

I've tried using Delivery Receipt and Read Receipt in Outlook 2003, and so
far, nothing happens. I've tried checking both delivery receipt and read
receipt, and checking each one separately. There is no indicator of a
receipt request on the sent messages, and no receipt request notification at
the recipient's end. I've sent messages to my other e-mail accounts,
including one that shows receipt requests when other senders use them. In
other words, I don't think the server is stripping the receipt request.

I've looked through previous messages in this forum, and could not find one
where the problem is that nothing at all happens when receipts are
requested.

Am I missing something?

Also, is it possible that requesting a receipt might cause a server to block
a message altogether, not just the receipt request?

Thank you.

Orrie

Not all servers return delivery receipts, and not all users' mail programs
return read receipts. (And not all people read their mail.) The lack of a
receipt doesn't mean the message didn't arrive or wasn't read.
