Recalling an email message from recipient

When i try to recall an email message using the 'Recall this Message' option,
the recepient gets the orginial message and another email recalling the
orginial message. so in other words - recalling the email doesn't do any
good for the recepient sees the orginial and the recalled email request. Why
is this or what is wrong? Please advise what i need to do to correct this.
