Really Quit?

Steve

When I Exit Internet Explorer, it doesn't really quit.

I know this because many times, when I shut down the
computer, a window pops up (probably task manager) that
says it's closing IE.

Additionally, now, I'll get pop-ups after I've "quit" IE
(like I'll be working on MSWord and a window suddenly
appears).

There's no other indication that IE is running, and I've
tried to see if it's showing two versions running in Task
Manager, but it's never there.

I'm connected to a LAN through Verizon Online, so I know
the connection is open.

I can disable the connection, but that's kind of a pain.
I'd rather just quit IE and be done with it (which is the
way it SHOULD work!!!).

TIA.

This is caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items
listed in red.)

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.
