It should not. I have this running on PII-300 systems.

I'd suggest an update install--control panel, add or remove programs,
Microsoft Antispyware, change, update--to see if that makes a difference in
the behavior.

Have you scanned your machine--are you sure that you are free of viruses and
spyware?

Thank you for your suggestion.
I updated the program but there is no change.

I should mention that the PC does not, but one of the
programs (which is DOS-based)that i am using slows down.
I've scanned the machine and it is clear of any viruses.

Hmm - some dos-based programs are not well suited to multi-tasking--they
tend to eat the CPU alive when sitting waiting for input.

You might post with more details in the appcompat newsgroup, but I'm afraid
that unless this app is currently supported by the vendor this one may be
difficult to get resolution on.

You might need to turn off Microsoft Antispyware via the system tray icon
while using the app. It'd be nice to be able to do that in a batch or
command file, but I don't know that this is possible.
