Re; Upgrading windows 2000 to XP

Greetings.

I am having a problem with upgrading windows 2K pro to
windows XP pro. I put the installation disk in the cdrom
drive and get a message that states that "setup does not
support upgrading windows 2000 professional to windows XP
professional". I have researched this and, according to
Microsoft's website, it is upgradable...so what the heck
is going on? I am trying to avoid a full re-format and
clean install. Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you,
Brian Massey

Apparently, you acquired an "OEM Version" of Windows XP.
OEM versions cannot upgrade an existing Windows installation. Only
"retail versions" can upgrade. Either purchase a retail version of Windows XP
Professional or reformat your drive to install the OEM version "clean".
