Re-installing XP

Hey
I am trying to re-instal my windows xp.
I use to just put in the cd, restart my computer and it would erase
everything and then make me instal it. And my computer was like new.
Now, When i insert the cd and start the computer, it doesnt do nothing. I
tried runing it directly and it tells me that with the updates, my xp is
newer than the one i am trying to instal. Even if it is the same cd that I
used 2 years ago...
Is there any way of just erasing everything so taht I can re-instal xp?

Here's a good guide:

You need to configure your PC's BIOS to boot off the CD rather than off
the hard drive.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to reinstall Windows? This is usually
not necessary.

Also, what is the make and model of your PC?

You are describing two seperate things, one Putting the cd in and everything
is erased, (this is a restore cd), must be booted to in order to function.

The other is trying to run setup within windows, I think you are using a
different Cd from what your thinking.

set your bios to boot from the cd, save it and reboot with the RESTORE cd in
the drive, and let it do it's thing, make sure it's the right RESTORE cd.
not just an install cd.
