Re-Installation of XP Media Cener 2005

I have an eMachine, purchased from Best Buy 2 years ago. The computer came
with XP Media Center 2005 pre-installed. I got a certificate but no XP disk,
instead they provided a disk labeled "eMachine Microsoft Windows XP Media
Center 2005 System Recovery CD/DVD" "Use this disk to re-install your
operating system" and WARNING: The recovery process erases all data files
from the hard drive"

My eMachine has crashed. The Geek Squad guys diagnosed a dead hard drive.
They're removed the hard drive and shipped it to Geek Squad Central in hopes
of them being able to recover all my data from the drive. I've purchased a
new hard drive to replace the dead one since the diagnosis found no other
problems.

My question is this - is the Windows XP System Recovery DC/DVD what I need
to install XP on my system, (old computer - new HD)? Or will I have to
repurchase the operating system?

That's likely to be a very wrong diagnosis. The Geek Squad is, to say
it kindly, renowned for nothing but their utter ineptitude.

Don't hold your breath, but expect to have to pay far more then the
computer originally cost for data recovery.

Sadly, considering the source of the "diagnosis," you may well run to a
different problem. But I wish you luck with it.

The eMachines Recovery disk should be all you need. There's certainly
no need to purchase a new WinXP MCE license.
