sounds like the driver/software is dorked up...
maybe you already tried this....but, here goes:
Option 1:
-Disconnect printer via USB cable
-COMPLETELY uninstall ALL printer drivers/printer software (I mean
EVERYTHING). i.e. make compooter forget that that printer even existed. If
the printer is one of those 3 in 1 jobbers, make sure you uninstall the fax
software, the lexmark 3-in-1 software and ALL software and drivers it
installed.
-reboot
-check again that you uninstalled EVERYTHING associated with that printer
(patiently scroll through the ENTIRE add/remove programs list for anything
lexmark)
-re-boot AGAIN if necessary / if you forgot something.
-check lexmark web site and DL LATEST driver for that printer, if different
from the one shipped with it.
-by follow installation directions that came with the printer, re-install
it.
This should work. I DO know (and have experienced) that lexmark printers
tend to be tempramental wrt drivers/software, erpecially with Dells, oddly
enough, as dell printers are lexmark licensed. I had to reinstall one
(Lexmark) once or twice WITHOUT having re-installed XP. Still never worked
quite right.
OR.... Option 2:
-use the lexmark for target practice / back your pick-up over it / practice
shot-put with it (preferably on concrete)
-buy an HP printer (Sam's usually has killer prices on HP stuff)
BTW....I opted for option 2 , not ONE problem since.
