Do you have data files you need to recover? You need to do this first.

What is the specific Dell Latitude Model? Do you have access to a second
computer? What is the computer make and model?

Does the Dell Latitude laptop belong to you or your employer?

You should note the comments in KB330182 with regard to Volsnap.sys.

Description: VolSnap.sys is located in the folder
C:\Windows\System32\drivers. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 52352
bytes (92% of all occurrence), 49152 bytes.
The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel
or by other programs. File VolSnap.sys is a Windows system file. The
program is not visible. The service has no detailed description. File
VolSnap.sys is a Microsoft signed file. VolSnap.sys seems to be a
compressed file.

The Service name is Volume Shadow Copy.

Also please note that you may be able to replace VolSnap.sys with a
backup copy to be found at this location
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. This could be possible if you have a
second computer available.

Your difficulties could have been caused by a malware infestation so you
will need to be prepared to deal with this eventuality as soon as you
gain access to the hard drive.
