Kelly,

Thanks for your enthusiastic and thorough support. I didn't know the Fast User
Switching depend on Terminal Service, which was disabled. Once I re-start the
Terminal Service, Fast User Switching can now be started smoothly. I also find
your website http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm extremely useful.

BTW, will Windows XP performance be enhanced by disabling Fast User Switching
and Terminal Service?

Again, many thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Armstrong

You are very welcome, Armstrong. Glad to hear all is well and to have
helped. Also, your kind words are greatly appreciated.

As per your questions:

Fast User Switching Compatibility:

Unless you have many users on a system, you probably do not even need this
service to be running. You could benefit, however, greatly if you use this
service in conjunction with many users on your local computer to allow
switching users without closing all existing applications running under a
different account.

Terminal Services:

Allows remote login to the local computer. This service is required for Fast
User Switching, Remote Desktop Server and Remote Assistance. You will not be
able to view who is logged on to a particular computer by viewing the "user"
tab located in the Task Manager if this service is disabled. For security
reasons, disable this unless you specifically require its functionality. For
some reason, start this service to install Norton 2003.

Kelly,

Is "Fast User Switching" related to virtual device? While writing my macro
scripts, I have heard the possibility of sending keystrokes via a virtual
keyboard by means of Fast User Switching. Can you give us your assessment of
such mystical possibility?

Thanks for your help again.

Sincerely,
