Re blue files

I did something or set something in using Windows XP that now when I
look at my files in windows explorer, some files are marked in blue
fonts and some in the normal black. What happened and is it something to
worry about?

Hi Jaymista,

The blue indicates they are compressed. This may be the result of running
disk cleanup and is normal. WinXP can use folders in this state just fine
for the most part (you shouldn't compress system folders though).

Greetings --

By design, WinXP compresses files that do not get used frequently,
and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays those files
in blue.

If you wish to change this behavior, in Windows Explorer, click
Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced settings: Show encrypted or
compressed NTFS files in color.
