Blue Type

I'm sorry if this is very basic and/or extremely simple!

When I open any folder in XP Home, some of the files are in black type and
others are in blue. Date, size and type do not appear to make any
difference.

Why are some in blue ?

They are blue because Windows Explorer is set up that way.
If you don't like it, open Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View tab &
scroll down to Show Encrypted or Compressed Files in Color & deselect it.

Thanks for the replies.
I have no problem with the file names being in blue or any other colour - I
just wondered why ? and now I know.
