RC2 5744 Shut down Problems

I have installed this build 2 times, from 2 different burned DVD's and no luck.

Whiles installing, when the OS has to do restarts it just goes to a blinking
cursor top left of screen.
Have to manualy reset the pc for instalation to continue.

Installation done, shut down,sleep,hibernation,re-start nothing works, just
monitor,mouse and keyboard goes inactive after the loggin off, shutting down
messages.

Never had this problem with Beta 2 or any 1 of the two RC1 builds 5600 and
5728.

Any advice how to get this solved and working again.

Running dual boot with WinXP Pro SP2 and no problem in XP with shutdown.

AMD XP 2800+ , 1GB DDR400 , ATI 9800 XT , Jetway V600DAP ; KT600-8237
motherboard.

I have the same problem as you. I think it's one of the Via drivers that
comes with build 5744 that is causing the problem.

Just like you, Beta 2, RC1 and others had no shutdown or restart problems.

I found a solution posted in another thread by AKWolf.

My problem is related to my VIA SATA Raid COntroller.

I just had to modify the solution to suite the 32bit version of Vista, as
they give a solution to the 64 bit version there.

Awesome work Jannie on tracking that info down. Worked perfect for me as
well since I have the same Sata Raid Controller. No more shutdown or restart
problems.

That's cracking advice Jannie, i'd tried that before only to get the 64 bit
option. Following your advice my problem is now sorted & my computer
shutsdown or reboots unaided..........many thanks....Winni
