Random Lockups and Reboots

Roger

I just installed Win2k, my computer has been doing weird
things ever since. It just locks up for no reason, like
today, I didn't have my hand on the k/b or mouse and it
just rebooted. It's locking up about 5 or more times a
day. It's getting quite annoying. Can anyone help me?

Try running it in safe mode for a while. If that stops the problem,
then it almost surely a driver issue. If not I would be suspect of a
hardware problem. Overheating cpu, flaky power supply, flaky memory, or
poorly seated memory, card adapters, or cables are usually the culprit.
Check Event Viewer for any errors and look in Device Manager for any
conflicts. In cmos you should have the option to select "non pnp os", try
that if it is not already selected. I have found that inadequate power
supply and overheating cpu [fan broke/clogged] cause that problem quite
often. -- Steve
