QWEST DSL has told me "good luck..."

and left me in the dust. i have no idea what happened. thank you in advance
for your replies.

here is my set up:
CPU1, XPSP2, ethernet to actiontec DSL modem (builtin wireless AP)
CPU2, XPSP1, wireless conection, lap top.

2 nights ago, windows update installed some items. according to my
eventlog, CPU1 crashed and rebooted. that morning, CPU was unable to access
the internet through my default browser (mozilla) or IE. it was, however,
able to communicate with CPU2.
CPU2 was able to connect to the internet perfectly. QWEST DSL asked me to
plug the thernet cable into my laptop and disable wireless. CPU2 browsed
with no problem.
This ensured that the modem was working properly.
later that night, CPU2 was unable to connect to the internet either through
wireless or ethernet.
Qwest support tells me that the modem is fine, and wished me luck.
i have done a virus check, and it reported no viruses, but one spyware
called navhelper.
i tried a system restore but system restore does not work.
i checked the firewall settings and even turning it off does not allow me to
connect.

any suggestions?

This is a fix I've had to apply in similar circumstances. Open TCP/IP
properties of the wireless connection, Advanced button, Options tab,
TCP/IP filtering. Change Permit Only to Permit All.
