I have a dell inspiron 6000 laptop. I was told by dell awhile back that i
only need to push a button when my computer starts up and that will allowed
me to restore my computer back to factory settings.

Surely that information must be available on the Dell support site, did
you search there? What about the documentation that came with your
laptop, nothing in there? Maybe this can get you started:

*WARNING*

All data on your disk will be lost if you use the "Factory Restore" feature!

Ask Dell to tell you or Read the Manuals or Search the Internet for your
particular situation?

Again Andrew you display your lack of knowledge and outstanding ability to
provide useless information. The F8 key is used to access the Boot menu of
the OS, it's not used to start an OEM PC or system recovery.

That information is correct to a point. The fine manual for my Inspiron
6000 describes how to do this in complete detail. I suppose you don't
realize that the fine manual is accessible through Help & Support.

This facility restores the computer to its as delivered state.
Hence, everything you have done since you bought the computer will be
erased.
