Hello, I just bought new PC with 4200+ dual core. I tried to install a
popular Anti-Spy software "Windows® Defender (Beta 2)" but could not
download it - got message "processor is not supported". Bad news.
I was able to install "Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal
Tool (KB890830)", is it useful?

Boy.

Never tried that one but Ive tried two other anti-spyware programs and
they worked fine on my dual core system. If you want a free one theres
this which Ive been using.

Just be careful when you google for anti-spyware programs. Many sleazy
firms mimic some free sites and some really slimey spyware sites
pretend to have antispyware for free . I couldnt remember what the
name of this site was so I googled it and ended up at a lot of sites
that seemed to be connected and many werent and tried to trick you to
install pay programs. One site was so slimey it pretended to be
connected to this software and put so many weird spyware programs on
my system that it totally messed it up but that was a while ago. It
doesnt seem quite that bad when I googled it recently.

Hmmmm.....went and downloaded the WindowsDefenderX64.msi after reading
your message and it downloads fine but upon trying to install on my
Athlon 3800+ dual core, I received the same error message as you did.
