Query Exchange contacts programaticaly?

Hello,
One of our clients has thousands of contacts, which increase in hundreds
everyday. Their offices are located across the country and there is no
centralized location where these contacts get stored - some are in DB2, other
in Exchange/Active Directory, etc. This *has* been the case for a few years
now and we would like to change that to have all contacts synchronized in a
fashion that whenever a contact is updated/added in one of the Datasources
(i.e., either in DB2 or in Exchange) it is automatically *replicated* to the
other data source.

Ideally, we would like to have all the information stored in DB2 and
therefore we need to a) import all the contacts into DB2 directly and b)
subsequent updates/additions to these contacts through DB2 or Exchange should
result in that data be replicated to the other Data Source.

DB2 side of things is not a problem, and is out of the scope of this
forum, however, could someone please suggest how, and if, I could query/edit
the contacts stored on Exchange programmatically? I am hoping that there
would be some way of achieving this in VB for sure. I have looked at
ADSI/COM/DAO/ADO briefly but have not been able to assure myself of any due
to my inexperience in these technologies.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Adarsh
