G'Day,

Is it possible to download updates to a local machine so that others
can use that instead of going back to the MS site? Seems a waste to
download the same security patch for each computer. I would much rather
download it once and let the others use the downloaded copy.

Can this be done?

Yes it can be done. On the windows update site there is a section called
windows catalog. You can download the updates to your computer and run them
from there for other systems. You can even download updates for other
versions of Windows.
