If I got a toshiba notebook. that came proprioty, like I went to circuit
city and got one.
and wanted to install xp home stand alone without all the junk.

would I need to obtain the drivers specific to that machine? and if so would
it be a great hassle.

Notebook computers require specialized hardware drivers only
the notebook computer manufacturer can provide. Visit the
support website of the manufacturer of you notebook computer
to download the Windows XP compatible drivers designed to
work with your specific notebook model. These drivers should
be installed right after installing Windows XP.

Not sure what you mean by "junk". If there are any applications that you
don't want on the laptop, then just un-install them. Easy to do.
