Pulldown menu bar not displaying. How to get back?

The pulldown menu bar is gone from Word. I don't know what did it and I
don't know how to get it back. I've hit every key and key combination I can
find and think of. All I have left is the window title bar, the presentation
space and the status bar on the bottom of the window. How do I get the menu
bar back? What file contains the Word configuration options?
