Menu bar in Word will not fully display

My menu bar in Word only displays Table, Window, and Help. I have tried
moving it around to no avail. It is as if the left side of the menu bar is
cutoff. All of the on-line Help only refers to fixing problems with the Tool
Bar. I even uninstalled Office 2003 and re-installed it and I still have the
same limited menu bar. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I tried the winword.exe. /a and it corrected the
problem as it opened Word. But after closing Word and re-opening it, the
menus were gone again. I also deleted the Data key in regedit, but this did
not work. I opened Word and had the same problem. The Data key was
recreated and had the same problem. I am on 2003 or v11.

If it works in safe mode (with the \a switch) then as the standard toolbars
are stored in the data key, deleting the data key should fix it permanently;
however personal toolbar settings are stored in the normal template so your
next step if to rename the normal template to (say) normal.old -

Alternatively, one could try resetting the Menu Bar in Tools | Customize |
Toolbars or replacing the menu headings via Tools | Customize | Commands |
Built-in Menus.
