Publishing Powerpoint slides to Sharepoint Slide Library - problem

Jack - AOS

When I try to upload a Powerpoint slide presentation after clicking Upload /
Publish slides in library, Powerpoint opens but I get message "This feature
requires MS Office Powerpoint Professional" (instead of browser dialogue for
selecting pptx).
I have Microsoft Office Professional 2007 suite which of cause includes
Powerpoint. Is there another Powerpoint product (can't find Powerpoint
Professional mention anywhere) or is this some technical problem?

Thanks, Jack

Where are you clicking Upload/Publish slides in library? Is that on the
Sharepoint site?

I believe (read 99.9% sure) you need Office Professional Plus (or Office
Enterprise or Office Ultimate) to get this functionality. Plain ol' Office
Professional doesn't have it.

Thanks Echo S. I'm sure you're right. Just checked out Office Version White
Paper which implies this in description of improved Sharepoint Integration.
What makes it confusing is Microsoft only refers to MS Powerpoint 2007 as
being in both suites (Professional and Professional Plus) without distinction
in product name or any indication that they are different versions.
Actually I was able to get around this by dragging pptx into Sharepoint
Slide Library in Explorer view. Thanks again.

Yeah, I find this documentation completely lacking. It took me a long time
to figure out which versions of PPT had integrated Sharepoint capability way
back when Office 2007 was first released. I'm glad that working from the
Sharepoint interface and dragging/dropping will let you do what you need.
