Publisher software not working-CD key problem

H

I'm trying to use Microsoft Publisher, Windows XP-Home version 9.00.2720 for
first time since purchased this PC (with it already loaded) 3 years ago.

Up pops a "Welcome to MS Office 2000" and after I enter the 25 character CD
Key code it says it's an invalid code. It's the code on the multi-color
sticker on side of my PC, so I don't understand what the problem is.

HELP!

It is clear what the problem is - you are entering the Product Key for
Windows and not the Product Key for Office. The Product Key for Office will
be found on the CD case holding MS Office 2000 that came with your
computer.

If you have nothing but the trial version of Office, you might try the
FREE "MS Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition".

What does this have to do with XP?? NOTHING.

The problem is that the sticker on the side of your computer is clearly
marked as what it is for... Windows XP. You are trying to use that sticker
(or more to the point - the number it has on it) as a valid product key for
a different product (Microsoft Publisher.) That's not going to happen. Use
your product key for Microsoft Publisher for Microsoft Publisher. ;-)

Sounds like you got a trial version of the software and never actually
bought it.

Name change?

You can always tell the trolls. They change their names to escape our
killfiles.

I don't mind. It only takes a second or two to put them back. It takes
them much longer to change their names.

Another name change. Doesn't fool anyone.

You really need to seek professional help. This constant obsession with but
a single irrelevancy is a classic symptom of mental illness.

No, actually it only takes a couple of seconds to change the name too.
More misinformation from a supposed MVP.
