PST hell

I'm trying to perform a simple task of importing a .pst file from my old
computer. My goal is to NOT have to enter all my contacts, calendar entries
and e-mail addresses from scratch.

Sorry for the stupid question, when I import a .pst file (loaded from the
old computer), the new computer creates a second "Personal Folders" file (no
thanks) and doesn't import any data.

What's the most effective way to import this data?

Repeated here hundreds of times - NEVER import a native Outlook file - use
File->Open->Outlook Data File.

As you will see posted here countless times, you never import a PST file.
You have provided a perfect illustration of why you should not.
PST is Outlook's native file format. It requires no conversion from another
format. Just open the file. Detailed instructions to follow:
File > Open > Outlook Data File...

At that point you can simply copy what you want from it to your new PST file
or simply set the old PST as you default and close the new PST file. Your
choice.

That worked, thank you! It may seem tedious to see the same question over
and over from the user community, but that should tell MS that this is not an
intuitive operation.

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it.
