pst file question

I have a user with four different pst files in her
Outlook. She split them up to keep them reasonable in
size, pst1 is 1.2G, pst2 is 1.7G, and pst3 is 1.1G. These
three files she views once in awhile, there hooked up but
not always expanded / being viewed. Her pst file that she
receives email in, pst4 is 64.7M and runs slow at times.
Could this be caused by the other oversized pst files?

It should but I still recommend that she disconnect the pst-files if she
only uses it once in a while since the risk of corruption is a lot higher
with pst-files that large. Everytime she opens Outlook the file will be
locked and written to (just a "modified date" change mainly but still). Are
these pst-files stored on a network share? This really degrades performance
as well as the pst-format has never been designed or this. This is why it is
not recommended and supported by Microsoft.

If performance is still poor you'll have to post more info like your version
of Outlook.

If she is using Outlook 2002 or 2003, she should also make sure she disabled
Messenger integration. It's at the bottom of Tools>Options>Other.
