Protecting Pc as much as possible

Ok, first off there is maybe, most probably about this already, but i want to know about all the programs i will need to protect the pc from the web. i currently have a Windows Firewall thingy going on, and Norton Antivirus. I dowloaded a trial of Webroot Spy Sweeper, and its already gav e me loads of pop-ups saying its blocked this, that & the other. I constantly get pop-ups although havong a Yahoo and Google pop-up blockers, also norton told me i had a virus and that they couldn't delete it muppets.


Also i want to make sure i dont get any trojans, viruses etc....

Any help is welcomed as my pc isnt very heal;thy at the mo'. And i want to re-format the thing and get it all secured!

1)get a better firewall norton or other im not sure which is the best
2)get firefox you dont get all the **** that you get on ie
3)adaware
4)spybot s&d
5)spyware blaster
6)a registry cleaner of somesort
7)anti virus which you already have
8)spysweeper is a very good program i would reccomend purchasing the full edition

Install everything Floppy has in his sig'.

Search this forum for more ... do not connect to the Web ... install Linux instead of Windows.

i dont have a link for a registry cleaner i used to have one and it was very good but forgot the name when i had to reformat
