If i install vista will all my programs that were on xp be on vista, if not
cani install them and games, like battlefield 2 and age of empires 3, also i
have a secondary hard drive for data storage, will i still be able to get
data from it after the installation or will i have to reformat it?

Yes, you can browse the contents of other drive just as long as you did not
encrypt the contents or put any permissions on the drive.
