Hello,
for the Desktop search, check the image on the right of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Desktop_Search
to see if your Windows search (Start -> Search) look like this.
For the antivirus program, look into Start -> All programs. Do you see
something that could look like an antivirus program, like Norton, or
Symantec, McAfee, Live OneCare, TrendMicro? Here's a longer list for that:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/49500
Additionally, you could look into C:\Program Files (hit Start -> Run ->
C:\Program Files -> Enter) and see if one of these is listed.
What is the process name of the program that takes CPU time? Start the Task
Manager, and go to the tab "Processes". Now, click onto the column "CPU",
and so the CPU usage of the processes gets listed. Which program uses the
most?
What is your overall CPU usage, seen in the bottom of Task Manager?
Hope this helps you.
