When I test an emulator sometimes the icon posiitioning gets messed up
on my Desktop and I have to sort them again... Is their a simple
application that can save and restore the icons on a desktop?

Cheers.

I use a utility I only know from its filename in my archive
directory...'layout.zip'. It contains a dll and a registry entry. When
installed it adds a right click context menu addition when you right
click on the My Computer icon on the desktop to save or restore the
desktop layout.

Works a treat, no fuss.

try:

to password protect minimized applications on the Windows desktop.
at: http://www.filelibrary.com:8080/Contents/Windows/130/28.html

When I clicked on the file link, I got the following:

"An error has occurred. The webmaster has been notified, and it should
be cleared up shortly. Thank you for your patience.

DEBUGGING INFO:

and there's a link to the download on that page:

Thank you all for your help. I've stuck with the layout.zip registry
entry at the moment suggested by SteveH and eXistenZ.

Cheers!.

May I suggest "icon_restore." Google for it, it works for me.

You might also want to try ICONOID.
