Program Files folder opens automatically at logon

The Program Files folder opens automatically at logon. The option to "restore
previous folders" in the Windows Explorer options is NOT checked.

I can find answers to similar problems involving other folders eg "My
documents" folder, but as they involve registry tweaks I don't want to
experiment unless I am certain.

All thoughts gratefully received.
