Probs w/ Windows Accessories...The light goes on!

After beating my head against the wall for a couple of days trying to get
Windows accessories to work, it turns out (thanks Andy Bridge!) that my
problem is the way I've got my target system setup. My target boots from a
40 Gb HDD. I first installed XPPro (to run TAP, and to have a OS from which
to run Partition Magic). I resized the first NTFS partition to 2 Gb, added
a second NTFS partition in which I put my XPe images. I setup the boot.ini
to allow me to select the XPPro or the XPe partition on boot. The XPPro
partition was named "C" and the XPe partition shows up as "E" when I'm
looking at it in XPPro. When I select the XPe partition for booting it
shows up as "D" so I set the Target device settings in TD to show "D" for
the folders and everything is copasetic (except for the problems with the
hard-coded shortcuts in the "Windows Accessories" component which Andy
pointed out).

Being "partition-challanged" in my understanding of how things work I
attempted to use Partition Magic to re-letter "c" to "f", and "e" to "c" and
ignored a couple of warnings. Of course my target system won't boot now.

I like being able to boot to XPPro or XPe during my testing but I can't
figure out how to go about doing it now. Can anybody help me with a method
to my maddness?

The registry hack (I guess its fair to call it that) works! It baffels me
that you can make the fundamental things like ntldr, the FBA process,
boot-up and all work by changing the "Target Device Settings" in TD from "c"
to "d" yet to make the (seemingly trivial) components like "Standard Start
Menu Shortcuts" function you have to do a registry hack.
