Problems with Windows Speech files

Hi,
can anyone help me with running Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 with Windows XP.
I have tried to install the Dragon software on my system with Windows XP
Home (SP1 and 2), and after installation am told that the file
C//:WINDOWS\speech\speech.dll is version 4.0.4.2109 and that
NaturallySpeaking requires version 4.0.42512 to run reliably. I have been
trying all day to fix the problem - restarting the computer, reinstalling the
software, reinstalling the sound drivers, scanning for spyware, checking that
all the MS updates are current. There should be no problems with
compatibility. I have scoured the dragon product support website looking for
a solution, but to no avail! I am writing from Australia and can't really
get on to US Dragon techical support, and I'm desperate to get this thing
going. If anyone can help with fixing the problem it would be very much
appreciated! - Is there such a thing as version 4.0.42512 of the WINDOWS
speech file? Or is this a general error message for more than one type of
problem? - And if so, what else should I try troubleshooting?
