problems with UNC paths

Altria

Hello All,
I am using win2kAD with winxp clients. I have created a share folder for
restricted users. When users access the folder they can see the full UNC
path. Also, they can use the up(back feature) to traverse all the unc paths
of the server as well as network neighborhood. Although the share does not
appear through normal network browsing because of the share$, I still would
like users only to have permission to see the share and nothing else on the
network. Is there a way that I can do this thru group policy or otherwise or
is this a normal feature of Windows? Also, Can I give the share name an
alias instead of it showing up as in the location(address) bar as
\\server_name\share$.
TIA,
Altria

You could setup a DFS root solely for this, but, there's nothing stopping
someone from browsing network neighborhood or a server (though you can hide
the net hood icon with a group policy).
