problems with sound

I had recently installed the game Black & White onto my computer. It was
having problems with the sound and I had to download a patch to get it to
work. It worked for a while then the sound started doing this "wavy" thing.
It sounds like someone singing while another pressed on their chest
repeatedly. I uninstalled the game but it still does it. I tried updating my
drivers, but no updates were available. I've ran sound tests and nothing
comes up. It says "no problems found". Troubleshooting didn't lead me
anywhere. That just told me to find it on my own. I can't seem to fix it on
my own. I'm running Windows XP and my sound, video and game controllers in my
device manager include: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, and Soundmax
Integrated Digital Audio. If you can help me, please email me at

Heya eTX. I had a very similar problem that effected ALL audio on my
computer all of a sudden, but not always. Finally tracked it down: Try
uninstalling Windows Update KB893086 and see if that fixes the problem!
