Problems with Security Update MS03-013 (Q811493)

Could someone please advice why I have problems
installing Microsoft's Security Update MS03-013
(Q811493).

Regardless whether I use Windows Update, or manually
download & install the file, on restarting after the
install, XP-SP1 gets to the logon screen and then
restarts itself. The only way out of this loop is to hit
F8 and choose the Last Known Good Configuration option,
which I think may not finalise the install of this
update. I've tried to install this update under Safe
Mode, but with the same result (XP restarting from the
logon screen).

Add/Remove Programs shows the update's uninstaller, and
it's also listed under C:\WINDOWS as $NtUninstallQ811493
$. But the Windows Update Site doesn't see it on my
system and recommends installing it. Since I'm not sure
how to verify if the update is properly installed or not,
I do not know what to make of it, and don't know if I'm
secure or not.

I am running a dual-boot, dual CPU system with three
physical drives, XP-SP1 on C:\ and W2K3 on D:\

All advice would be greatly appreciated.
