Problems with Paint, of all programs...

C

Chris Stalis

I was fiddling around in Paint and cropping a screenshot
i had taken of a game i was playing when i had to leave
quickly. I hit the exit button, but the computer seemed
to just freeze, so i debated with it, and killed the
power to the machine. Not the wisest move, i know.

Well, no whenever i try to enter back into Paint, i
instantly get a "there was an error within the program.
Do you wish to send an error report messege?" I'm not
sure what it wants to let me back into Paint, but since
it comes automatically with Windows XP it's not like i
can just reinstall it.

Any advice, or did i just screw up completely?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Paint. Here's how:
Go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, on the left side of the window
click on "Add/Remove Windows Components". Now highlight Accessories and
Utilities, then click on the Details button, make sure Accessories is
highlighted and click the Detail button on this window. Scroll down to
Paint and uncheck the box, then click OK buttons all the way back out. Now
follow the same steps to go back in and check the box for Paint again.

Hope that fixes it!

Try deleting it's saved settings.

Type regedit in Start Run, navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Paint
and delete the key.
